Protein Rich Food

Protein from plants or animals? Which helps you lose weight faster, Choosing the right protein source can affect how people control their weight.
People care more than ever about getting enough protein, but where your protein comes from is just as important as how much you eat.
Protein is important for the body and can be found in many foods, from tofu to low-fat cheese. Some sources of protein are better than others, obviously.

Protein Source:

People can get protein from two main sources: plant-based foods like nuts, lentils, beans, and whole grains; and animal-based foods like chicken, fish, and eggs.
Even though most people think of meat when they think of protein, experts say that plant-based options can be healthier, especially for people who are trying to control or lose weight.

Amanda Velazquez, MD, head of obesity medicine at Cedars-Sinai, told Health,

“The data has started to show more and more that plant protein is just as good at giving the body the nutrients it needs.” “In general, plant-based protein is better for you than animal protein.”

Most experts agree that getting protein from plants is better for your body overall.

First, plant-based protein sources usually have more fiber than animal protein sources.

“When you’re trying to lose weight, it’s especially important to eat a lot of protein and fiber,” Velazquez said. “Peanut-based proteins will have more fiber than animal-based proteins.”

Clinical nutrition lead and nutrition teacher at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, Amber Schaefer, MS, RDN, says that just because plant-based protein may be best, that doesn’t mean that someone has to become a vegetarian or vegan right away. Instead, make changes whenever you can.

There should be at least three meals of some kind of legume every day, Schaefer said. “That could be lentils, chickpeas, or beans, if you like.” “Just maybe swapping out the red meat from that week to cut down on the saturated fat you’re getting.”

“Leaning towards plant-based proteins” is what Velazquez said people should do in general. If they do want to eat some animal protein, though, leaner proteins like fish, seafood, chicken, and turkey are also good choices.
